Hot Stone Massage
The warmth of stones combined with massage technique, with temperature and pressure set by you.
Chapter 01
Warmth first, then the hands
Hot Stone Massage at Tranquility Spa combines the warmth of stones with massage technique. The stones bring a steady, even heat that a pair of hands can't, and the therapist uses that warmth alongside the strokes rather than in place of them. It's a treatment built around how the body settles when it's warm, which is why people often reach for it when the weather turns or when they're carrying a long, tight week.
It also changes the pace of the hour. Warmth encourages you to stop bracing, so the work tends to feel slower and more enveloping than a session built purely on pressure. If your idea of a good massage is sinking into the table and letting the room go quiet, this is the one on the menu closest to that.
It's a good fit for a long weekend afternoon, or for a gift to yourself after a stretch of early mornings. Because the treatment starts at an hour, it also suits people who want a proper block of time away from their phone, with nothing to decide once they're on the table beyond how warm and how firm they'd like it to be.

How a session unfolds on the table
The structure is the same as any massage here. Arrive fifteen minutes early at the Ygnacio Valley Rd spa so you can fill out the intake form, tell the therapist where you're tight, and settle in without watching the clock. You're draped throughout, the door is never locked, and only the area being worked is uncovered.
Temperature is yours to control. If the stones feel too warm, say so and the therapist will adjust, and the same goes for pressure, which you can ask to be firmer or lighter at any time. You can also stop the session whenever you like. Therapists don't diagnose or prescribe, and clients receiving chemotherapy or radiation need a doctor's note first, so call (925) 722-5888 if you have a question before you reserve.
Chapter 03
Three lengths, and a scrub to pair
Hot Stone is offered at 60 minutes ($85), 90 minutes ($120) and 120 minutes ($170). There's no 30 minute option, because warmth needs time to do its job, and an hour is the shortest session that gives the stones and the hands room to work together. Ninety minutes is the length to choose if you'd like unhurried time on your back, legs and shoulders. Two hours is the full, slow version.
Prices are posted in plain numbers, so you know the total before you book. You can reserve online or by phone, and the spa is open every day of the week, with doors open until 9:30 PM, which makes an evening session after work an easy fit.
If you'd like to make an occasion of the visit, the Renew and Rejuvenate Body Scrub (30 minutes $70, 60 minutes $120) is also on the massage menu and uses all-natural exfoliants. Ask when you call or book whether it can sit alongside your massage, so the Walnut Creek front desk can plan your time on the schedule.
