Signature Massage

Long, fluid movements to improve circulation and relieve muscle pain, with a scented lotion of your choice.

Chapter 01

Long strokes for tired muscles

Signature Massage is the treatment Tranquility Spa calls its most popular option, and the reason is easy to feel once you're on the table. The therapist works in long, fluid movements that travel the length of a muscle instead of stopping to dig at one spot. The aim is to improve circulation and relieve muscle pain across the whole body at one steady pace, so the session reads as a single continuous motion rather than a list of separate fixes.

It sits in the middle of the massage menu. It's more purposeful than the Relaxation massage, yet it doesn't ask you to tolerate the focused pressure of deep tissue work. If your shoulders hold a desk day or your legs hold a long one on your feet, long strokes are a sensible place to start, because they cover the back, legs, arms and neck without leaving any region out.

Before the table, you choose a scented massage lotion. It's a small decision, but scent is a big part of how a room feels once the lights are low, and it's the one detail of the hour that is entirely yours to pick.

How the hour actually runs

Plan to arrive fifteen minutes early at 1815 Ygnacio Valley Rd. New clients fill out an intake form and sign an informed consent, and that time is what lets the therapist start with a clear picture of where you're tight and what you'd like left alone. Late arrivals can shorten the session, and the original treatment time is still charged, so the early window is worth keeping.

Once you're on the table, the therapist checks your pressure early and again as the work moves around the body. You're draped throughout, and the door is never locked. You can ask for lighter or firmer pressure, change the music, or adjust the temperature of the room at any point, and you can stop the session whenever you want. Therapists here don't diagnose or prescribe, so if you have a medical question, take it to your doctor.

Chapter 03

Picking 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes

Thirty minutes ($50) is enough for a focused visit, such as a tight back and shoulders. Sixty minutes ($75) is the standard full-body session. Ninety minutes ($110) gives the therapist time to slow down over the areas that need it, and two hours ($150) is the full, unhurried version, with room to work every region twice.

If you're deciding between Signature and the lighter Relaxation massage, one reviewer put it plainly: the relaxation massage "was a lighter touch than I expected" and "It's lighter than the signature massage." So if you want the stronger, more consistent pressure of the two, book Signature. To check availability or talk through a length, call the Walnut Creek spa at (925) 722-5888, or book online.
