Couples Massage

Two people, the same private room, two tables and two therapists, booked together in Walnut Creek.

Chapter 01

One room, two tables, two therapists

A couples massage at Tranquility Spa puts two people in the same private room, on two tables, with two therapists working at the same time. That is the whole arrangement, and it is a simple one. You arrive together, you are shown to the room together, and you finish your hour at the same moment.

The room is on the photo above: slate-teal walls, warm terracotta throws and soft pendant lights over a pair of tables. It is the spa's own two-table room at 1815 Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek, and it is where couples massage happens. Each person is draped throughout, and the door is never locked.

This is not only for couples in the romantic sense. Two friends, a parent and an adult child, or a pair of sisters can all book it. Anyone who would rather share the hour than spend it alone is welcome.

Each person chooses their own pressure

Two therapists means two different sessions happening side by side. One of you can ask for a firm hand through the back while the other wants something soft and slow, and neither has to compromise. Pressure, temperature and music can be adjusted by each person during the session, and either of you can stop at any time.

A Google reviewer named Jorge booked it with his wife and wrote: "We've done their couples massage." He also described how the work went for him, saying "Vicky applied the right amount of pressure around my surgical area to make me feel comfortable and relaxed." That is what the pressure conversation is for. Tell your therapist what you need, and they adjust to it.

The therapists do not diagnose or prescribe. If either of you is in chemotherapy or radiation, the spa asks for a doctor's note before the session. Mention anything you want the therapist to know on the new-client form, which each of you fills in when you arrive.

Chapter 03

Lengths, prices and gift cards

Couples Massage is booked at 60 minutes for $150, 90 minutes for $220 or 120 minutes for $300. A 60 minute booking suits a first visit or a lunch-hour treat, and the 90 minute session leaves more time to settle in. The 120 minute booking is the longest hour on the menu.

It is also a good thing to give. Tranquility Spa sells Gift Cards, so you can hand someone a couples massage for a birthday or an anniversary and let them pick the day. If you would like to book directly, call the front desk at (925) 722-5888, or book online. The spa is open every day from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and parking is free.

Please arrive 15 minutes early so both of you can fill in the new-client form without rushing. A credit card holds the booking. Cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice is charged at half the price of the service, and a late arrival can shorten the session while the original time is still charged.
