Prenatal Massage
A massage designed for pregnant bodies through all stages of pregnancy, with you in charge of pressure and pace.
Chapter 01
Made for a pregnant body
Tranquility Spa lists its Prenatal Massage as a treatment designed for pregnant bodies through all stages of pregnancy. That wording matters, because it means the session is set up for you as you are now, not adapted at the last minute from a standard table massage. You tell the therapist how far along you are and how you are feeling that day, and the hour starts from there.
Pregnancy changes how people carry themselves, and it changes what feels good. Some days a gentle, slow touch is what you want. Other days you may want a little more firmness through the shoulders and low back. The therapist works at whatever level you ask for, and you can change your mind as often as you like during the session.
The treatment room at 1815 Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek is quiet and softly lit, with warm terracotta throws and a door that stays closed behind you. It is a calm place to spend an hour on your own schedule.

You set the pace and the pressure
Every client at Tranquility Spa has the same standing rights, and they matter most when you are pregnant. You choose the pressure. You choose the room temperature and the music. You can ask the therapist to stop at any moment, for any reason, with no explanation needed. If you need a break, to stand up, or to use the restroom, you take one.
You are always draped during the session, with only the area being worked on uncovered, and you are positioned for comfort throughout. If a position stops feeling right halfway through, say so and the therapist will adjust it. The door to the room is never locked, which is a spa policy and applies to every treatment.
The therapists do not diagnose or prescribe, and a massage is not a substitute for your prenatal care. Follow whatever guidance your own doctor or midwife has given you, and mention anything that is on your mind when you fill in the new-client form.
Chapter 03
Lengths, prices and booking by phone
Prenatal Massage is booked at 60 minutes for $100, 90 minutes for $150 or 120 minutes for $200. For a first visit, 60 minutes is a good length to try. If you would like time for a slower pace across the back, hips and legs, the 90 minute session leaves room for it. The 120 minute booking is the longest hour on the menu.
If you have questions before you book, call the front desk at (925) 722-5888 and ask them. Is there a time of day that is quieter? How should you describe your situation on the form? What happens if you need to move your appointment? These are easier to settle in a short phone call than in a booking form, and the team takes calls every day from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for the new-client form. A credit card holds the booking, and cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice is charged at half the price of the service. Gift Cards are available if someone wants to give you this hour. Parking is free.
